Why is the Congo rainforest so important ?

The world’s  second largest rainforest is the Congo rainforest in Africa. Around two-thirds of the region’s.Intact forest is found in the democratic republic of Congo.

The Congo rainforests also covers large areas of Gabon, Cameron, Equatorial Guiana, the central African Republic and the republic of Congo.

 The wealth of biodiversity is also immense. The Congo rainforest is the only place in the world where all three subspecies of gorillas and the eastern lowland gorilla. Bonobos are found only in the Congo Rainforest they are the closet relatives to human begins. The okapi an animal found only in this region looks like a cross between a giraffe and horse.

The rainforests of the Congo are home to more than 11,000 different species of plants.
