Your skin is continuously passing hung amounts of information to your brain. It monitors touch, pain, temperature and other factors that tell the brain exactly how the body is being affected by its environment. Without this constant flow of information you would keep injuring yourself accidentally. You would be unable to sense whether something was very hot, very cold, very sharp and so on. In some rare diseases the skin senses are lost and these people have to be very careful so that they don’t keep hurting themselves.
